Beef Chow Mein

So one of my favorite takeaway foods has got to be a good beef chow mein and oh how I am going to miss our weekly take out night. So I have been trying to re create one of my favorite take out dishes using as little syns as possible. So have been searching the internet and looking through different recipe books to create my favorite take out dish and this was the outcome…


Beef Chow Mein (Syn free)

Ingredients:

  • 2 Dried Egg Noodle sheets
  • Soy Sauce
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Fry Lite
  • 400g
  • stir fry beef
  • 1 inch of fresh ginger
  • Handful of beanshoots
  • 4 Spring Onion
  • 1 Onion

What did I do and how?

Now the dish is relatively easy to make.. I started off by boiling 2 sheets of egg noodles , once cooked I strained the noodles and mixed them with a large dash of soy sauce so that all of the noodles were coated and then left them to one side. In a frying pan using frylite I cooked up the fresh beef, I then threw into the frying pan some finely chopped fresh ginger, 4 spring onions cut and sliced, one small onion cut and thinly sliced and lastly I threw in a handful of fresh beansprouts. I then added in the noodles and mixed everything together adding approx 3 – 4 tbsp of oyster sauce and then served.


Afterthoughts:

Now when it comes to measuring ingredients Im kind of a cant be bothered, a little bit of this, a big dash of that kind of girl,well obviously unless its something that needs to be measured for syn purpose values. All of the ingredients Ive used in this recipe are syn free so I was able to get away with it so when it comes to the oyster and soy sauce go with what your happy with.

Now in all honesty the chow mein didn’t match up to the one I buy from the chinese takeaway, I mean it was never going to be the same but what I created was enjoyable and made for a lovely meal and I would definitely have it again.
